SCHOOL EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME
School experience is a vital part of your teacher training application, and the majority of training providers require you to have it. Getting some classroom experience can also help you to decide whether teaching is right for you. It will strengthen your application and prepare you for potential interviews.
The Bitterne Park Teaching School Alliance is pleased to offer a range of opportunities through The School Experience Programme (SEP) to individuals who may be considering a career in teaching.
During your placement you’ll have the opportunity to:
- talk to teachers about day-to-day school life
- observe teaching and pastoral work
- watch a range of lessons and age groups being taught
All of this will give you valuable insight and a great focus point for your application and interviews. As part of your placement, a Disclosure and Barring Service check may be required – this will be organised by the school.
How to take part
To be eligible for the School Experience Programme, you will have already completed your degree or be in your final year, and will have achieved or be predicted to achieve a 2:2 or above (or a third class degree with a grade B or above in the relevant A level for secondary mathematics or physics).
