Bitterne Park School is the lead school for the Bitterne Park Teaching School Alliance, a  cross phase collaborative alliance with over 15 strong partners from KS1 to higher education.

Bitterne Park School was designated as a teaching school in 2012, following 3 Outstanding Ofsted inspections.  Since then, we have successfully appointed over 14 Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs) with a range of specialisms, all of whom have a proven record in school-to-school support.

BPTSA has supported 13 education providers since 2012, leading to improved outcomes.  Support includes development of leadership at all levels, following a triangulated approach.  This develops leadership and improves outcomes.  Particular expertise includes offering school-to-school support, developing leadership, School Direct teacher training, and CPD including Teacher Subject Specialism Training in Mathematics, Physics, French and Spanish.  Bitterne Park School is an Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) appropriate body and trains secondary NQTs across the alliance.

Bitterne Park School enjoys strong links with organisations such as NACE (National Association for Able Children in Education), the NCTL (National College of Teaching & Leadership), NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics) and IOP (Institute of Physics) to name a few.

The Director of the Bitterne Park Teaching School Alliance is Susan Trigger.  Susan is also the Executive Headteacher of Bitterne Park School.   The Priority School Building programme is expanding the school to be the largest mixed 11–19 community school in Southampton LA with plans for almost 2000 students on roll by 2021.

Susan Trigger is a National Leader of Education (NLE), and Bitterne Park School has been designated a National Support School (NSS) by the NCTL in recognition of our strong record in leading school improvement.
