Bitterne Park School Priority School Build Programme – new school build
The school are excited to be able to share plans for the new school to be built on the school campus. The new school is being built in response to the expansion of secondary school places provision in Southampton, the continued success of the school and the need to replace the existing 50 year old school buildings.
The latest plans of the school reflect the need for modern teaching and performance spaces as well as adding much needed capacity to the dining and meetings spaces in the heart of the school. The transformation of the school site will provide a new three and a half storey teaching block with improvements in the sports and social spaces throughout. The outstanding ethos of Bitterne Park School is very much at the heart of the building design which encourages students to engage with subject lessons and extra-curricular activities.
The new school plans include 80 new teaching classrooms; a purpose built assembly hall / theatre with seating for 360 students, a new dining space with fully fitted kitchen, new performance and sporting facilities, improved student toilets, a large Learning Resource Centre and numerous meeting and group working spaces.
The Headteacher Susan Trigger said “she was delighted to be involved in the design and vision for the new Bitterne Park School. It is vital to ensure the excellence of what we currently deliver is continued in a new state of the art environment. Our expansion into a new school reflects the huge demand for places at Bitterne Park School and will allow even more students to experience the ‘can do attitude’ and aspiration that is the norm at Bitterne Park School”.
