March 2010

Dear Parent/Guardian

Year 11 News and Key Dates

With less than 30 school days until our final Year 11 assembly, I thought I would take this opportunity to provide you with some key dates and information that will, hopefully, satisfy any queries you have.

The exams begin on 22nd March in Practical Subjects and finish on 30th June. Your child will be issued with an individual exam timetable during the next week.

Our final Information and Guidance Day is on Tuesday 16th March. This day will be a revision study skills day for all Year 11 students from 8.30am to 12.20pm. Students will be working in groups and attending workshops designed to focus on and improve their revision skills.

We will also be holding a Year 11 targeted Parent’s Evening on Tuesday 23rd March. All Year 11 teachers have been asked to highlight any students that they wish to see with their parents or carers. We will be arranging appointment times and sending these out shortly. Alternatively, if you wish to see specific teachers on that evening please complete and return the slip at the foot of this letter.

The students will have their ‘Leavers Assembly’ on Friday 7th May. However, all students will remain in school until they have completed all their formal exams and completed any outstanding coursework. This will allow them to take advantage of revision sessions organised by departments and teaching focussed on exam preparation and techniques.

Following the exams we have the Year 11 Prom at Botleigh Grange on Friday 9th July. The next round of Prom tickets will be issued before Easter. I will be using the latest effort and attendance data as criteria for allocating tickets.

Finally a summer of waiting will be over on GCSE results day on Tuesday 24th August, when we hope all students will be celebrating their successes.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding your child’s progress or any matter, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.

Yours sincerely
Mr N Russon
