BPS garden project
Back in September 2009 the pupils of Mr Powell’s year group started out on a project to improve the look of the garden areas around our school. They raised £400 for Myathenia Gravis who in return donated 300 bulbs for the garden project.
Volunteers have been working tirelessly since their first week in year 7 on various jobs to improve the garden including; digging, soil improvement as well as designing the layout of the garden in preparation for entering this years prestigious Southampton in Bloom competition.
The team have worked hard on creating a “Learning garden” which includes a sensory and herb garden section. The herb garden has been used by the Food technology department in their lessons.
The judging team visited us on the 6th July and were said to be very impressed with the garden and the hard work shown by the projects team. We are awaiting the results of this competition.
Overall the garden has massively improved the school environment for both staff and pupils alike and everyone who took part should be congratulated for their hard work. Check back in the next few days for the result of this competition and to see images via our flickr page.
