DT at KS3

Students have two 50min period for each Design and Technology subject. With year 8 & 9 having predominantly double periods At Year 7 & 8 time table permitting students rotate after a brief design experience module to work in Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Graphics. Students experience a broad range of skills, techniques and practices that encompass the wide knowledge needed to work in these disciplines.

A charge is asked for at the beginning of each year to pay for materials that are used by students to create their innovative and imaginative outcomes. This charge is at present £10.00 for Food Technology and individually set charges for resistant materials, graphics and textiles. These charges are made during the project and are their for material cost and so that students may take home their outcomes. The cost on average is around £1.50 to £3.00.
