Key Stage 4

The majority of students, who opt for Food Technology, will complete the GCSE course. Other courses available include WJEC Entry Level Certificate for Food Studies. All students studying food will have 3 lessons a week and generally, we do practical work in the double lesson and related theory work in the single lesson.

In Year 10, we focus on building a good skills base and work with a varied range of ingredients to make a variety of main meals, desserts and snack products.

In Year 11, the work becomes more individualised, with GCSE students completing practical work for their chosen coursework task and Food Studies students working on planned practical assignments.

For further details relating to the GCSE or Food Studies course see the appropriate fact sheet.
