Key Stage 3
In Key Stage 3, students rotate and complete modules in all areas of Technology - (Graphics, Resistant Materials, Textiles and Food).
Each Food rotation will consist of two lessons a week and students will complete the following Design and Make modules;
Year 7 – Health, Hygiene and Hazards (9 week module)
Year 8 – Multi-cultural foods (9 week module)
Year 9 – Novelty biscuits / Edible casings (12 week module)
Our aim is to give each student a good foundation in basic practical skills.
Throughout the modules, they will improve knowledge of:
- Selecting and using the correct equipment and tools safely.
- Making healthy food choices and designing for people with special dietary needs.
- Function of ingredients and ways of combining materials.
- Awareness of safety and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Making products of a consistent quality.
As skills and confidence improve, they will have the opportunity to design foods and create new products of their own choice.
