Welcome to our first “BPS News” of the 2014-15 Academic Year. This mid-autumn term letter will update you on a range of important news.
My first “well done” and “thank you” must go to the “Class of 2014”. Our Year 11 summer leavers have once again proved that hard work and aiming at accurate targets and expectations, can lead to excellent results. You may have read or heard in the news that students in 2014 were affected by more GCSE reform than any other group of students had dealt with for many years. The results in numerous schools around the country and locally took a dip as the grade boundary changes, and an increased focus on the final exam papers, took their toll. It is therefore fantastic to report that our wonderful students delivered a headline result of 69% 5 A*-C including English and Maths, against their Government set target of 64%. The analysis of all the results is well underway and will confirm very good progress for this group of students including the Pupil Premium group we need to address, following our Ofsted inspection. “Well done” and “thank you” to the students, the Year 11 team and all the subject teachers who had to adapt and deliver against an ever changing landscape.
